Arroyo in the studio recording his first hit - listen here.
Nah.
News swirling online about an interdict for EWTN unless they fire Raymond Arroyo? They can't do that. Raymond gets all the celebs to come on and they need that kind of thing to attract viewers and fans of Jim Caviezel. It won't happen.
There's an element of 'fake news' about the story, although LifeSite says Father Antonio Spadaro is tweeting about it. I only saw that Tony Annett tweeted it and Spadaro retweeted his tweet. Haha! Is that enough for a canonical interdict? C'mon.
They tried to kill EWTN when Mother was alive ranting against Cardinal Mahoney. It didn't work.
Anyway - just for fun - here's the LifeSite story: Shut down EWTN until they fire Arroyo.
Song for this post here.
It's interesting what one comes across on Facebook and Twitter. I bet many users have many regrets. I'm surprised what some people link to or re-post. Some influential people I respect jump on the strangest stories. I asked one academic if she was still teaching at seminary or if she is retired now. I can't imagine she could continue teaching with some of the more biased links she posts and comments upon.
The nerve! I'll burn it down before
I'd let the bishops take over.
That's what she said.
Don't shoot the messenger.
Final song here.
h/t BadgerCatholic for the story.
In our house the nickname for Raymond Arroyo is “Howdy Doody“ don’t you think there is a kind of resemblance? We watch very few EWTN shows but when we do we always turn off the tube when he comes on. We just never liked his vibe or his tendency to seem condescending towards anyone who didn’t agree with his point of view. But, come on… Interdict?
ReplyDeleteI do only occasionally. I refer to him as PeeWee. Jerry Lewis liked him.
DeleteI think he looks like PeeWee Herman.
DeleteOh yeah...Pee Wee...for sure,!!! Ok we need to switch our nickname!
DeleteName calling and mockery is not, how shall we say, anointed.
DeleteI'm sorry. He just seems to love celebrity and performance, and so I try to have fun with that. I think he does have a theatrical background and he has done M. Angelica impersonations. But that's no excuse I suppose. I thought I was being nice by pointing out how silly an interdict would be, with him as ransom. Those things don't happen like that. Although it appears the threat will up World Over Live ratings tonight. Thanks for the correction Frank.
DeleteMockery? Anyone who puts themselves "out there" is subject to mockery, ridicule, snickery, sneers. Of course, this doth not make it right but I detect a double standard (imo) since I have read many a times here on Terry's blog our Holy Father being called "frankie" and nobody, except Terry, lifts a finger.
DeleteAnyway, the day is so beautiful ... a cool crisp breeze with white puffy clouds and crystal blue skies. The Lord who made heaven and earth is such a wonderful artist! He lifts up the heavy hearted so as to give us the grace to give Him all the glory!
I'm done with the negativity dear Terry. I will do my best to go on silent mode now and try to keep a good Lent. Many blessings to you and your readers for a holy Lent and a glorious Easter!
Yawn ... next thing we may read from the usual suspects - here and elsewhere is that "the Holy Father ordered the hit! It's all his fault! No one else is to blame but him!"
ReplyDeleteOn and on and on and on ... whatever.
I know. LOL!
DeleteThere hasn't been an interdict in the Church since like the 1700's - haha- fake news baby!
ReplyDeleteWhen an interdict was imposed on St. Catherine of Genoa's diocese she just went to the next diocese for daily Mass.
Deletenice- you got to love the Italian saints!
DeleteI do! So much! You too Padre R!
DeleteI no longer have cable and therefore do not see EWTN. I know it is online too but just do not go there. Censorship seems uncalled for especially in the US. I have long wondered how the Network would fair without Sr. Angelica.
ReplyDeleteI hardly ever watch - and when I watch Arroyo, I turn it off when he gets all Barbara Walters. There is a woman who does news on the station and she is quite objective and doesn't impose any bias while reporting. Another guy is very good as well. Sorry - I don't know their names.
