I protect the robins in my yard ...

The sign I made to alert intruders.

I shot this through my screen so the nest is difficult to see.

Song for this post here.

  1. I have one nesting at eye level in the lilac next to the outdoor spigot. And eye level when you're 5'2" is pretty dang low. Every time I go to turn on the water either mom or dad squawks, flaps wings, and gets generally bent. Scares me to death.

Thankfully, Erica kitteh is too busy trying to eliminate every mouse, pocket gopher, and vole to have noticed the robins.

    1. Gabs ignores everything like that. Never try to point something out to a cat - ever.

  3. We've got about 25 finches at our feeder. At least 5 a day are flying into our front window. It stuns them and they sit for a while until they fly away. And then I noticed the neighbour's tabby sitting under our window yesterday - I shooed her away. Luckily I didn't see any feathers sticking out of her mouth!

    1. Hopefully they can elude her! Where I am crows and blue jays are the menace.

    1. Thanks - I'm doing another folk piece of Our Lady of Carmel - I'll post it. The robin sign is taken from German folk painting.

  5. The Blue Jays of San Carlos Cathedral of Monterey salute you! Being little thugs they need no protection but admire your aviary ministry nonetheless.
