I was called before the Inquisition today.

The artist said:
“One of my first "watch" paintings.
I use a watch on a man, so he can avoid reality."

What?

I met with my pastor, finally after 27 years, several pastors, over at least ten years of saying I'd like to sign up, and at least one cancellation of an appointment to do so.  I was hoping I could just fill out paperwork rather than make an appointment to 'talk'.

So today I actually showed up for a scheduled appointment.  Fr. wasn't there yet - he arrived 20 minutes late.  I almost left and was going to tell the secretary I'd be back another time.  But he came in before I could do so.  I felt trapped.  I was sweating - it's only in the 50's in Minneapolis today and I'm sweating.  I told him I felt like I was being called in to the office to be reprimanded.

"So tell me about yourself ..."

I told him everything.  I was surprised how many periods of my life I forgot about - "Oh!  I lived in Boston too."  "Oh!  I suppose I should tell you ..."

So anyway.  I will now get envelopes and I can be buried from there, my neighborhood parish.  I also learned that the icon will be installed in  the Marian-Adoration chapel, which is exactly where I hoped it would be place.

He's a great priest BTW.

I stayed for adoration.

  1. Inquisition! But good you have a place from whence to be buried. And a saint t bury you.

Happy to hear the icon will be where you want it to be.

    1. Yeah - I'm sure he thinks I'm weird - I told him how wonderful he and the Companions are and that I pray for him.

  2. Wow, that is cool! I joined a new parish, closer to home too. I wash and iron altar linens too every seven weeks . My kids tease me that I am turning into a "church lady." Can you imagine?

    God is good, always!

    1. I enjoy ironing. I am praying that when I am finally able to retire, I can devote myself to the Church/local parish and be of service wherever I am needed.

I am going to ask Saint Joseph to put in a good word for me and Saint Martha too. ^^

  3. Oh, I used to launder and iron, mostly purificators, in the sacristy. That was the most wonderful thing.

  4. Is it typical in Minnesota to be interviewed before joining a parish?

    1. I don't think so, but I think this pastor seems to do it to get to know the people better - smell like the sheep, sort of.

    2. Some parishes require it. Others ask you to fill out a form.

  5. I think it's a great idea to sit sown and chat with (new) parishioners. We see SO many faces but need to put names and some life-facts to the faces.

    1. Yeah - it really went well and I felt 'welcome'. It's a good practice I think.
