This is one of the most edifying pieces I have read in a long time ...

"When Christ took pity upon me..."

"When Christ took pity upon me, I knew it was all over - it was just over and done with; I never would have imagined tagging myself gay, or extolling the minuscule and narrow virtues that an existence so lost and disgusting ever held. Imagine Mary Magdalene ruminating about the few brief moments of spurious happiness she had back in whoredom; or preserving her former good-time-girl moniker. Like Mary, my shift was extreme - for me, the whole gay thing was just evil - and, for so many years, it kept me away from Christ; it cost the lives of many dear friends, and almost took my own. Call me a former-homosexual, ex-gay, even a penitent, but never ever call me gay." - Joseph Sciambra

  1. All of you SSA's ...listen up. I'm hetero. I married a Mandarin girl so pretty....she almost caused a car crash in Grand Cayman....while dressed very modestly. Just her face caused distraction there. Yet today I felt strongly drawn to looking at a white blond and I called on the Father...." Father...You see it...rescue me".
Ex gays....we heteroes are not as intrinsically ordered as one thinks. That's why we run to Him. THE cross is so similar across the board. Satan would like you to think...no....love you to think...it's easy for us. The Fall means we are all intrinsically disordered unless we call to Him.

    1. Bill Bannon, this is the first of your posts in which I am in full agreement. Thank you.

    2. Victoria,
You're welcome. As to my non typical comments on hell and the death penalty, penetrate Sirach 42:14 " Better a man’s harshness than a woman’s indulgence.." I see very little masculinity in the magisterium for years...ergo...the new nice death penalty position...lethal to murder victims for centuries to come. Somewhere in the 5th millenium, a Pope will apologize for it. 42:14 explains a lot.

Terry, I am glad you were moved by this.

I shall refrain from my usual bitchy (but on target) comments on Sciambra to point out that..if he is going to write pieces like this he needs to educate himself on a few things. Like the fact that Mary Magdalene was not a prostitute or a "good-time-girl," Instead of getting his theology from comic books I suggest he might want to look into some biblical and Church history and scholarly research on how important Mary Magdalene was...her importance is not as a repentant whore (of which, most likely she wasn't) but as an example of how Christ loved respected and trusted women (not in the Dan Brown way) and that she had spine enough not to run for the woods after the crucifixion and was trusted enough by him to be the first person he revealed himself to and to spread the word of his resurrection.

A much more powerful thing then a former "good time girl." though I love those too. Which unfortunately means Sciambra needs to find another costume for Halloween this year..I'm thinking maybe Mae West this year but...(okay, got bitchy there at the end.)

    1. I can't speak to any of that.

The post isn't about any of that for me - it's not even about me or what I think, but it's about a man - a man Christ took pity on. It is so awesome.

I see Joe in the image I chose for the post...

    2. Beautiful witness to the glory of the Merciful Risen Lord.

I find solace in those words too especially now in this hour.

      Thanks for sharing Terry.

  5. I wondered how many people would "miss" the message and rather focus on the Magdalene thing....
