Mark Shea and Michael Voris to debate.

In a church basement.

In South St. Paul, Minnesota.

It is called the Argument of the Month - Mens Forum for Catholic Apologetics.**

Details here.

Admission is $15 at the door.*

Two professional Catholics will be engaged in a debate.  How much are they paid?  Who paid for the air fare?  The accommodations?  The speakers fee?

What?

I'm so just kidding.  Someone made a big deal about professional Catholics and their salaries not too long ago so I just thought I'd bring it up for fun - or a possible discussion point.

Seriously, I haven't heard if Mark Shea will have security or not, but he should be okay as long as he doesn't mention anti-Semitism, Fr. Corapi, reactionaries or gay saints.

*Price includes a "Manly Meal” - which is always delicious, BTW.

** FYI: I'm told local women have organized a similar club, but no one can hear anything because everyone talks at once.

  1. WTF is a "manly meal?"

Oh and, sure, I'd LOVE to pay to listen to two guys argue in a church basement. I really can't think of a more productive use of my time.

  2. I'm from northeast Iowa where a "manly meal" includes good sized portions of meat, potatos and gravy--and dessert.

  5. Terry, what? I can't hear you, my ears are still ringing from the Argument Club for Women. Can you believe I wasn't supposed to bring an actual club?

I have no idea. I hope as much as possible, but I anticipate a couple hundred bucks, if that. Being a Sinister Professional Catholic mostly involves getting to wear the evil tight-fitting leather suits of evil. The pay is crappy.

"Who paid for the air fare? The accommodations? The speakers fee?"

The Argument of the Month Club, of course. You think I'm gonna take bread out of my kids mouths to lark off to Minnesota? Also, I totally plan on mooching off Dale Ahlquist. It's our agreed upon deal. He mooches off me for lunch in Seattle, I mooch off him when I'm in Mpls/St. Paul.

  8. Wow, Terry, I thought this was a joke until I followed the link! I still kind of thought it was a joke when I got there and read it.Appetizers and deserts?????There has to be some Mo's invovled with that. Are they sure its not some ruse to lure Voris to a basement, so that "Gay Activists," can jump him take him off to some indoctrination camp (and hopefully someone will figure out what to do with that hair of his) and bring him back talking about gay saints, women as priests and the urgent need for the return of the guitar Mass!

  10. Professional Catholics and the speaker's fee thing is meant as a joke you know.

    Makes no difference to me.

  12. My reply was meant as a joke too.

I hope you'll reconsider the "Hell no". I'd be honored to shake your hand, Terry.

  13. Mack - I watched the Voris/LaBarbera exchange discussing Fox News and the Homo-agenda thing. Sounds about right to me. I'm not a news guy, but I think they get it right.

    1. LOL...Terry I thought only two people in desperate need for new hobbies like Voris and poor put upon Pete would believe that Fox News in a "Pro Homo Agenda." I was cracking up at the "46 page report," which looked like it was put together by an 7th grader. Petie, please no sane straight man is going to waste their time putting together a 46 page report on something as stupid as that.

Tho granted I didnt watch the whole thing, it just seemed that Mikey and Pete were p oed that Fox isn't a Catholic Station (was it supposed to be?? with people ranting "Get the Queers!"

But good for Fox if true and its not just these two nutballs seeing Gay Activists behind every tree.

  15. Mack - I thought it was 78 pages - I must have heard it wrong.

I should write a post on the 'new' gay. I don't get it.

I was reading some stuff today and my head is swimming. Mixed-orientation marriages is a co-culture. And then there is the enigma of the gay virgin.

Poor old perverts are being shamed out of the culture.

    What?

Please do a post on that! What the hell is the "new gay"..and what is a mixed orientation marriage? Are you reading those bad "gay bar rags," that always seem to have a "go-go" boy on the cover? (I know I am showing my age..do they have those anymore?)

"And then there is the enigma of the gay virgin. "
Well-we all have to start somewhere you know!

"Poor old perverts are being shamed out of the culture."

I hate when people use that term "gay culture!" What the hell does that even mean?(not directing that at you but whomever coined that hyper serious phrase.)

And perverts, young, old, gay and straight are always going to be with us..its a teaching moment for young people to learn how to smile and be polite , while getting their drink at the bar while dodging grabby old hands!
