Since I'm not following the Olympics (no hatred, just lack of time), I have to ask: are these outfits on the ice now, or is this a photo from an Olympics held in the 70s?
Never heard of the film...but that's not saying much (I'm mostly of out of touch with the film industry...). But -- it's worth noting that it's not obvious that this is from a movie. I've seen some pretty bizarro outfits on figure skaters, and it's entirely believable that this guy's outfit would be for real.
Larry, I'm so relieved....I thought there was something a bit not-right about that gal, so to learn that she is a he after all...well, it just explains so much, like, why is the gal not wearing little scraps of chiffon around the waist in a suggestion of a skirt? Why isn't she bare-legged, or at least in sparkly nylons?
No kidding Larry - I never saw the film and I never knew it was gay - to me all ice follies people look like this - especially in the Olympics... not that anything is wrong with that. LOL!
Terry - I haven't seen it either (not a big fan of Will Farrell, but he was good in Stranger Than Fiction - I think that's what it was called). I didn't say it was gay, though.
Ah, Blades of Glory! I think of it as Zoolander for ice skaters . . . which gives me pause when I recall that a real-life male model said that Zoolander might as well have been a documentary!

That was one of your best performances!

ReplyDeleteAustringer - it's a shot from a Will Farrell movie called 'Blades of Glory'. Apparently it was a comedy.
ReplyDeleteI never saw the film either.

ReplyDeleteAustringer - it's two guys actually. Jon Heder is the blond (he's more famous from Napolean Dynamite.
ReplyDeleteI don't believe it was a "all-gay all the time" movie - just a sophmoric spoof on ice skating competitions.
And now you probably know more than you had ever hoped for!

ReplyDeleteOK. I don't think Will Farrell is funny either.
