This is a huge waste of my time, and yours.

Remember Lot's wife, who turned into a salt-shaker after she went back to check her email one last time

  2. Does it make me a bad person that I think that picture is absolutely hilarious? I mean, I know it's supposed to be Soddom and Gommorah, but...look at it!

On a serious note, I like your blog. You make me think about things I wouldn't have thought about otherwise. Not a waste of my time, though you may have other things you need to do...I don't know.

I like how the angel is holding poor Lot's confused hand, and the various uses of red here are thought provoking. As for salt, if all our fluids were stripped away, dehydrated, we'd become pillars who would have no life and could produce no fruit, no matter what happy or painful winepress of life was applied. That is pretty much what happens when we defy Him and thus cut ourselves off from the source of all Blood and Water; but also, when we look back by ourselves and not forward with Him, we can't move.

We are salt, and we're supposed to be, but we're meant also to be fully human which is to say, needy of and deferential to our God. We must acknowledge that we are incapable of even sustaining life; but in giving that humble nod, in surrendering to our own dire vulnerability, we can and must trust that there is a tender Father of incredible might Who is super-aware of even His sparrows.

Anything that makes one think--and especially if it makes one grow a bigger/compassion--is not a huge mutual waste of time.

I hope you're feeling better today.
