It seems to me "a specific choice against Jesus Christ" can be defined as apostasy.
I used to live in Denver, and once attended a Mass that Archbishop Chaput presided over (it was connected with some type of charity outreach). I'll never forget his homily. He said, in his underspoken, gentle way, "If you're not helping the poor you are going to Hell."
