I knew this family.

The cause for sainthood has been opened for the mother of this family, Gwen Coniker. I certainly believe it is warranted.

What a wonderful story! I can't imagine being such a mother.

I am the most impatient person in the world, and I have quite a temper at times too. Thanks be to God for the confessional. It will be a miracle if my children come out of their upbringing unscathed.

  3. Just an FYI - Drew Mariani is going to have Mr. Coniker on his show today, Wednesday. I believe Drew's show is on from 3-6pm CST on Relevant Radio.

My niece Renee has been working with the Apostolate for Family Consecration in Ohio for about 5-6 years now. She absolutely loves it, although it seems kinda "cultish" to me.

that's great, but it would be nice if she helped out other less fortunate mothers. or maybe she did. the article was too long for me.

Jeron, I've been to a retreat there one summer, about a month after Gwen died as a matter of fact--I got to talk with Mr Coniker a few times about her and other things as well. I think it is a wonderful apostolate. I didn't feel there was anything 'cultish' about it-- to me, at least. My impression was they are great promoters of family and living the Catholic life in a practical way. And they also realize teh importance of eduction in the Faith--catechism for the entire family, as well as emphasizing virtue and holiness.

Maybe you and your family should make a retreat to visit your niece and see if you still have the same impressions about them.
