Blog is dead.

The 'new wave' of Ham Radio.
"Can-it Babe!"

Catholic bloggers complaining about low traffic levels, comments, and stats.

"It's a crisis in the making!"  Stated a well-know blogger, famous for his money making apps attached to his website.

It's just not the bloggers - the advertisers are worried too, one woman promoting online donation schemes complained:  "It's patheotic!  It's almost like a famine... near-Biblical proportions!"

What's happening?

Lack of originality?  Too many copy-cat posts?  Too much people pleasing and wanting to impress others with posts about stuff people already knew but had forgotten?  Or are people getting sick of  sensationalizing stories the MSM has already finished with?  (Dark Knight - so last week.)  Too much holier-than-thou conversion stories?  Not enough exposes and scandal mongering?  Too much drinking and blogging?  The experts aren't sure.

Aside from the demise of any credible or meaningful Blogger Awards competition, I'd say the economy is partly to blame.  People are losing their Internet connections: they can no longer afford computers.  They might have lost their homes, their cars, their jobs, their families, their credibility, and now, finally, they've lost their web access.  That's what I tell myself anyway.  Although many people are probably just on vacation, and many more just aren't interested.

Anyway, the blog is dead.  I think Ham Radio is where it's at today!

For Rent!
[Speaking of vacations!]
This lovely, right-on-the-North-Shore
 canned-ham trailer hideaway
is available for rent next week!
Sleeps 8 priests comfortably,
and roomy enough for conferences.

That's just about it!

Semana Santa

Holy Week - get that?  Holy Week.

In case you were wondering about my header for this week, it is a photo of the hoods and the shadows they made by New Mexican penitentes.  Likewise, the photo shown at the top of this post shows Spanish penitentes in religious procession during Holy Week.  (The photo at the bottom shows a devout Catholic mother and her daughters on spring break during Holy Week. LOL!)  What?

I love Hispanic religious culture - Latinos actually participate in Holy Week liturgies and para-liturgical observances.  The poor and rich alike take part.  The penitentes cover their heads to remain anonymous in their penance, as the Gospel recommends.  So unlike Anglos - we blog about the wonderful works we perform, and ask for donations and junk up our sites with ads, in order to maintain the comfortable lifestyle we've become accustomed to, while some of us even take Holy Week off to spend vacation time at our favorite resort, and yet complain that priests are not hearing confessions during the Triduum... just because we got drunk on Holy Thursday night and need to confess again*.

No problemo, I'm not judging here - just observing behaviour.

Holy Week at the beach.

*Been there, done that.

***Please note:  Comments are closed for the remainder of Holy Week.  Awww!

Nuns on the run...

.
It's the talk of the Catholic Internet - the LCWR cover-up of nymphomaniac nuns.  I for one just can't bring myself to believe it!  I think these poor women are being framed....
.
That's just what Rush Limbaugh said.
.
Remember Peggy Noonan's op-ed sometime back, where she said saving the Church would require a woman's touch?

Oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

The "O" antiphons.
.
I know.  It is a liturgical thing - very good - very nice - very lovely - all of that.  Awesome!  You will hear them recited, repeated, chanted, sung -  now until Christmas - and others talking about them as if they had never read scripture or heard such words and attributes of the God-man uttered by mere mortals ever before.  Very nice, very good, very lovely - all of that.
.
Seriously, the antiphons are just awesome and beautiful - truly...  Indispensable during the preparation for Christmas.  Nevertheless, liturgical bloggers, liturgists, and choirmasters tend to carry on about them - almost to excess.  If perchance some cleric or liturgist corners you and expounds on and on over the extraordinary beauty of the antiphons, just tell them, "I know!  Oooo!  I know, I know!"
.
If these people did not carry on so dramatically - a soul just might be able to discover the spiritual beauty all on their own - as the Holy Spirit wills.  "The wind blows where it will, and thou hearest its voice, but knowest not whence it comes and where it goes: thus is every one that is born of the Spirit." - John 3:8
