I told you so ... Pope Benedict never told Dollinger or anyone else that the revelation of the Third Secret of Fatima was incomplete.

I got an idea - let's make up a new conspiracy:
Pope Benedict cried when he realized
the Octave of Pentecost was cancelled?
Or. When he read the Third Secret?
Or. When he was forced to resign and forced to say
whatever the Vatican lavender mafia told him to say?

Vatican News issued the Communique today:
“ Several articles have appeared recently, including declarations attributed to Professor Ingo Dollinger according to which Cardinal Ratzinger, after the publication of the Third Secret of Fatima (which took place in June 2000), had confided to him that the publication was not complete,” – the Communiqué reads – “In this regard, Pope emeritus Benedict XVI declares ‘never to have spoken with Professor Dollinger about Fatima’, clearly affirming that the remarks attributed to Professor Dollinger on the matter ‘are pure inventions, absolutely untrue’, and he confirms decisively that ‘the publication of the Third Secret of Fatima is complete’.” - Vatican Radio
I'm certain I wasn't the only one praying Pope Benedict would say something.  I thank God for prayers answered.

These stories are inventions.  Sheer inventions.  Visionaries and wanna be prophets and Catholics who want to retract Vatican II, the liturgical reforms, as well as every utterance made by Pope Francis - they want everything retracted.  The pope doesn't condemn this or that at every turn, he doesn't say what they want him to say - then he's a bad pope.  These people are the ones who sow confusion.  Consciously and deliberately.

I recall how Mother Angelica - God love her, God rest her soul, and all of that, once said "I for one do not think the entire things has been revealed."  So what?  Except all of her fans picked up on that and ran with it and they ran right smack into the Remnant and rad-trad-Fatimists who not only insist the popes and bishops are lying heretics, they throw into the mix a cocktail of other private revelations, insisting the Fatima secret said the great apostasy has arrived and there's a bad pope and a bad Mass and on and on.

Pundits online feed on this tabloid crap and vomit it back to their crack-pot-Catholic-militants - albeit all dressed up in nice looking websites operated by unemployed stay at home dads reaping in donations, while sowing confusion among faithful Catholics stupid enough to read their crap.  Today, Fr. Z posted the communique and ends his post, "Take it for what it's worth."  (Just a hint that he thinks it's a PR stunt, huh?)  I'm so sick of his bullshit - feeding his adoring fans and contributors with his b.s. - he's the master of open ended statement and innuendo, quoting his prestigious salon buddies to spread the contagion of doubt without actually tarnishing his reputation.  The priest commentators, canonists and bishops and cardinals 'in union with' Fr. Z spin their crap - and they, along with media seem to me to be the ones creating confusion, which they in turn blame Pope Francis for.

Pope Francis gave an interview to La Croix - no one was able go into outrage mode because he said nothing contrary to Catholic teaching - or should I say - say something his critics could spin to sound as if he was 'bending the rules'.  Hell - he's come out in defense of marriage - and against gay marriage.  He's come out in defense of life.  There are so many examples, I don't want to waste time.

The Fatima sensationalism is very interesting - quite similar to the superstition surrounding the Millennium - Y2K.  The Centenary is upon us and everyone is fast predicting this and that - false visionaries and mystics listening to their own imaginary voices - pious and lovely as they may be.  People are in the market to be deceived.  Just remember - Christ foretold, "For false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform signs and wonders that would deceive even the elect, if that were possible."

The last group of people who declared Rome was in apostasy, and the pope was a heretic and/or the Whore of Babylon were the Protestant reformers and their followers.  Now it is traditional Roman Catholics who reject Vatican II, the Ordinary Form of Mass, and the papacy of Pope Francis.

What the Novus Ordo watchmen are really telling you.

Fr. Joseph Terra of Mater Misericordiae Mission, Phoenix

Fr. Joseph Terra
Heartbreaking.

“I have forgiven him.” - Fr. Terra

When I first read the unfortunate story of the murder of Fr. Kenneth Walter, FSSP, I immediately thought of the many posts Fr. Z has done on a priest's right to self-defense, gun ownership, shooting practice and training, as well as his support of conceal and carry, due to the increase of violent crime - especially on such soft targets as churches and rectories.

If only he had a gun.

That was my next thought.  It turns out that Fr. Joseph Terra did have a gun, which he kept by his bedside, when he went to retrieve it, he was too badly beaten to use it, the criminal grabbed the gun and then used it on Fr. Walker.

The attacker managed to take the gun from Terra, made the priest get on his hands and knees and give him money, and then used Terra's gun to shoot Father Walker, who had come to investigate the commotion, police said. - Story here.

It's a tragic situation.

Anti-gun advocates often claim that is what happens - the homeowners gun is often used against them.  Pro-gun advocates reject that notion and point to stats which claim the guns, though rarely fired, act as a deterrent to would be criminals and home invaders.

Then of course there are those who think a priest shouldn't be armed.

Fr. Walker was not armed of course.  Fr. Terra was, but apparently too disabled to use it.

Risky.

Now for something about how the story gets reported.

Media seems to be struggling with how to cover the story when it comes to identifying the priests of the FSSP.  They describe them as if they are some sort of hybrid of Catholicism.  I wonder if this contributes to, or is in any way related to how ordinary Catholics regard the Extraordinary Form of Mass?  I'll post a couple of examples:

Terra and Walker's conservative order, the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter, was created in 1988 in response to Vatican II reforms in the 1960s that modernized the Church, with the fraternity's priests preferring to perform Mass in its “extraordinary form” -- that is, in Latin. Emphasis is placed on personal sacrifice in order to be closer to God.
During Monday's ceremony, priests spoke Latin, faced the altar rather than the congregation, and women wore mantillas, lace veils that were popular before Vatican II's reforms, when women were required to have their heads covered. - Story

I don't really expect secular media to get religious stuff right, but chances are this story was written by someone familiar with post-Vatican II Catholicism.

I think a huge problem is the ongoing 'separatist' movement regarding liturgy - ordinary form vs. extraordinary form, Latin vs vernacular and so on.  The FSSP and traditional Catholics are not another branch/sect of Catholicism - they are Catholics.  The FSSP was not created as a response or reaction to Vatican II.  The Extraordinary Form is not necessarily a 'preference'.  The priest doesn't face the altar, away from the people - he faces ad orientem, towards the East, towards God, if you will.  It is a priestly stance - leading the people in prayer and worship, offering the Holy Sacrifice.

It seems to me these peculiar misrepresentations contribute to the confusion, divisiveness and polarization among Catholics.   We do not have two branches of Catholicism.

O God, Who didst give to thy servant, Kenneth, by his sacerdotal office, a share in the priesthood of the Apostles, grant, we implore, that he may also be one of their company forever in Heaven. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Ouch! Cardinal Mahony... unprecedented...

"I find these files to be brutal and painful reading. The behavior described in these files is terribly sad and evil." - Archbishop Jose Gomez

Los Angeles Archbishop Jose Gomez on Thursday announced dramatic actions in response to the priest abuse scandal, saying that Cardinal Roger Mahony would be stripped of public duties in the church and that Santa Barbara Bishop Thomas J. Curry has stepped down.

Gomez said in a statement that Mahony -- who led the L.A. archdiocese from 1985 to 2011 -- "will no longer have any administrative or public duties."

Gomez also announced the church has released a trove of confidential church files detailing how the Los Angeles archdiocese dealt with priests accused of molestation.

Gomez wrote in a letter to parishioners that the files would be disturbing to read.

"I find these files to be brutal and painful reading. The behavior described in these files is terribly sad and evil. There is no excuse, no explaining away what happened to these children. The priests involved had the duty to be their spiritual fathers and they failed," he wrote. "We need to acknowledge that terrible failure today."

Gomez's statement came a week after the release of internal Catholic church records. The records showed 15 years before the clergy sex abuse scandal came to light, Mahony and Curry discussed ways to conceal the molestation of children from law enforcement. Those records represent just a fraction of the files the church released Thursday. The Times is now reviewing those files. - Source

I think this must be unprecedented in modern Church history.

ARCHBISHOP GOMEZ?!
WHAT?!

Shame... shameful and scandalous.

Priests and their Bishops

Remember this film from 1994?  When Priest was released it was considered anti-clerical and anti-Catholic.  In retrospect it seems rather prophetic.

Just thinking.
