The Carmelite Feast of Mother of Divine Grace

Prayer
God of eternal wisdom, in Your providence You willed that the Blessed Virgin Mary should bring forth the Author of Grace, and take part with Him in the mystery of man's redemption. May she obtain for us grace in abundance and bring us to the haven of everlasting salvation. We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son, Who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.  Amen.

Eight days after the feast of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, Carmelites celebrate the feast of Our Mother of Divine Grace.

That Mary obtains for us and distributes to us all graces is a certain doctrine, according to what we have just said about the mother of all men. As mother, she is interested in their salvation, prays for them, and obtains for them the graces they receive. - Garrigou-Lagrange

In thanksgiving for every grace!

  1. May our Lady Mother of Divine Grace protect her children in Nicaragua. It is being reported that President Ortega is enticing even more violence against the Church, her shepherds and faithful. Some Ortega supporters are reported to have stormed one Catholic Church to desecrate by defecating on the floors of the church and vandalizing it and stealing sacred objects.

With the Church is literally under attack there, as in other parts of the world, I doubt they have time to sit in front of their computers in complete safety, with the luxury of being scandalized by the likes of what's being reported here in the US Catholic world.

I remember Father Benedict Groeschel used to say, " the Catholic Church in the US needs to have a persecution because we are all asleep. Shoot up a few priests on their church steps and let's see if that wakes us up."
We all would laugh at such commentary but you know what? After those comments made over 20 years ago, I doubt we would wake up since we have long been in a coma and have let too many things slip by. Were it not for the few sober holy people of God ... who knows how further we will fall.

Virgencita de la Divina Misericordia, ruega por nosotros!

    1. You are right. It's very scary what is developing in Nicaragua. I also just read that a young priest in Africa has been murdered.

I sometimes wonder what it must be like to live in fear because of one's faith. I then remember to give thanks and to use my safe environment to pray for my brothers and sister who suffer. I don't want to waste that time by just being listless as this hot weather is currently making me feel.

Have a good week dear Terry. My prayer for us all is to seek shade and peace and rest in the shadow of the Lord's wings. May he give us the graces we need to press onward!
