Happy St Nicholas Day. I have celebrated since childhood with putting my shoe outside the door. The Eastern Church calls him "Nicholas the Wonderworker."
HAPPY ST. NICHOLAS DAY!!!! Our family has always held to the Italian (and pan-European Catholic) tradition of St. Nicholas Day, the first day of the season in which gifts are given. Shoes placed by the front door at night...and amazingly...gifts appear in those shoes by the morning. St. Nicholas, pray for us.

ReplyDeleteAs a Dutch person this is one of my favorite feast days :)
ReplyDeleteI love this picture of St. Nicholas flying! Interesting that the old legends have him flying. No reindeer, though.;-)
