This is, again, HUGE news.

Pope Francis ... is ... Catholic!

Actually - the story goes like this:
In his letter to Card. Brandmüller, Pope Francis explicitly cites Pope Benedict XVI pontificate-defining address in 2005 to the Roman Curia in which he spoke about the “hermeneutic of discontinuity and rupture” (e.g., the Karl Rahner crowd and their descendants, still active today) and the “hermeneutic of reform”, or “hermeneutic of continuity”.
In this explicit reference Francis is aligning himself with Benedict and that key moment and concept underlying Benedict’s pontificate. - What?

"Francis is aligning himself with Benedict..."

What the ____?

Who would have ever thunk it?  Huh?

The Successor of Peter, the Successor of Benedict XVI, Pope Francis, is Catholic.

Really?

  1. I never doubted the faithful witness of Papa Francis for even a nanosecond. ^^ Like you,Terry, I knew he was Catholic all along...how can anyone not be when one loves Mary, loves Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament so
much that the holy Father visits our Lord on a daily basis.

Anyway, he loves Papa Emerito too and has been a good support to him in his retirement. I think they still have lunch or dinner together and often too. Makes me happy.

  4. This is the problem I see with so many Traditionalists. They think they have the faith exactly right, and in order to be truly Catholic, everyone must agree with them, including the Pope. If anyone, including the Pope, seems to deviate in any way from what they think, the person if completely off the rails. These are the kind of people that Father Z tends to attract, so anytime the Pope says something that seems to go along with what they explicitly believe, that is HUGE news, and yes, that means the Pope, after all, is Catholic.

  5. Well, I confess I'm grateful to the traditionalists. Without them, the Tridentine would have completely disappeared. We all go off the rails at times. I know that from personal experience. LOL!

    1. I love the TLM, and that leaves me very conflicted when it comes to many who support it. I see these people displaying great reverence during Mass, and then after Mass I hear the most horrible things come out of their mouths concerning the bishops and even the Holy Father. It is very disconcerting. Far too many traditionalists display an "I'm more Catholic than the Pope" attitude. I know. I was one of them and do a mea culpa about it every day.

  6. I laughed when I saw this breathlessly reported on Rorate Caeli. In other news, dog bites man.
