"Grieve not the Holy Spirit."

The Deacon St. Francis lavishly vested for Christmas Mass.

I think many of us risk grieving the Holy Spirit...
Do nothing to sadden the Holy Spirit with whom you were sealed against the day of redemption.  Get rid of all bitterness, all passion and anger, harsh words, slander, and malice of every kind.  In place of these, be kind to one another, compassionate, and mutually forgiving, just as God has forgiven you in Christ. - Ephesians 4: 30-32

Giving thanks to God is a great antidote - I think it's a sacrifice which pleases God very much.

Thank you for this! I needed to hear it also.
Posted some remarks to Amy Welborn's blog today about Cardinal Ravasi's latest tweet in honor of Argentine-native poet Borges re: the iconoclasm of the Spirit (or all three of the transcendentals actually) in Tres Versiones de Judas, here

The temptation to seek redemption at the expense of another (other than he who has already Paid that Price in full) is amongst the faithful one of our most egregious sins, an incoherence that resembles the cognitive dissonance in this clip http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eyll-bBZzyk
re: fate of the official spoken Gaelic tongue in today's Republican Eire (for the love of which many lost their lives, yet their descendents are functionally illiterate (the logic of the market idolized with cheap credit has emptied their accounts of any accrued merits, to the obvious frustration of a grandson of one of the nationalist heroes. Like all trads he is in danger of making an idol of his memories, rather than evangelizing (the pop sound track was sung all in English - for crying out loud - why if he disdains it so?)
