Remembering Two Holy Men for March.

Faithful models of holiness in ordinary life.
.
It is the end of March and I forgot to write about one of my patrons, Blessed Alberto Marvelli.  His birthday was March 21, but I misread the autobiography I have in Italian and I transposed his age at death with the date of his birth - so I was waiting until March 28 to write about him.  Naturally, checking his stats, I realized my mistake.  Confused?  So am I.
.
However, a very holy young man from these parts, who could be a canonized saint one day, was born in March and also died in March - March 20, 2000.  Charles Untz.  I was reminded of him while reading The Little Way blog.  It appears that devotion to Charles is spreading.  (His memorial card shown above.)  To learn more about him visit his family's website dedicated to Charles, My Lady's Knight.
.
Blessed Alberto and Charles, pray for us and with us.  Amen.

  1. Amzing that he was reading the Divine Office as a CHILD! It seems I cannot consistently do all the hours on a daily basis! Here I am always thinking: how does anyone get to God without sin and heartbreak? A dear face...

  2. Terry, I apologize for the delay in responding to your questions about Charles. I approve comments from my Blackberry at work sometimes, but it's much easier to respond from my computer when I get home. Had I not missed morning Mass and gone to that evening Mass with Father Engo, I might never have known about Charles. I don't know when I've read about a more extraordinarily holy contemporary. I began to pray to him in earnest of behalf of that seminarian and I will continue to pray to him. Have you ever been to his memorial Mass at his parents' farm? At some point I will reach out to his parents. On the day of the Mass with Fr. Engo, he had just received a call from Mrs. Untz about the cause for Charles. I hope to see him beatified in my lifetime.
