I removed a post linking to an author whom other readers informed me was unorthodox. My apologies, I did not know that before posting an excerpt from an article he wrote. Thanks for correcting me.
Our archdiocese (Omaha) newspaper runs his column also. I have read some of his stuff that seemed good, some that seemed silly. None of it was heterodox that I could see. Admittedly I don't read it every time; I can take or leave him as an author. I do trust our archbishop that if he, as the publisher of the paper, found something seriously at odds with orthodox teaching that he would pull the plug on the column.
Our diocesan rag used to carry his column. Also our parish "book club" (grey haired ladies who are all for womyn priests) just LOVE him. That tells me everything I need to know!

Oh good grief. My diocesan (Steubenville) newspaper runs his column in every issue.
ReplyDeleteThanks for pointing that out Thom.
ReplyDeleteWhat is so sad is the care we must now take when reading "Catholic" authors.

ReplyDeleteHe's in the Scottish Catholic Observer too :)
ReplyDeleteA little extreme taking him down because he says some bad stuff, no? I mean, Origen is in the Office of Readings ...
