Anyone recognize this nun?

I'm fairly certain the sister on the left is Sr. Lillian, CSJ who taught 6th grade at St. Patrick's on the Eastside of St. Paul, Mn, circa 1961.  Anyone recognize her?  She was very much into Fatima, and wore her habit until the end of her life.  She didn't like me, but I liked her.  She put out little booklets on copulation and gonads and I copied them, and my mother found my notes and called me a little pervert.  "What the hell is wrong with you?" - yelled my dad as he slapped my head.  Thanks Lil.

  2. I thought she might be the person that wrote the blog "Ask Sister Mary Martha".

  3. I think Sr. Lillian was ahead of her time. In my Catholic grammar school sex ed happened in the eighth grade. Out of the blue the boys and girls were separated. The nuns took the girls and the boys got our talk from Fr. O'Connor our crotchety Pastor who corrected his altar boys with a swift hit to the head. His take on sex, from what I remember, was there are things a boy should not do to himself or to a girl. No questions allowed. I remember being clueless as to what he was talking about.Catholic High School was not much better on this subject in those days. Fortunatly for me I had friends in the know.

    1. Sr. Lillian was ahead of her time and yet very traditional - although we were all hyped about the Council and looking forward to the 'new' Mass. Interestingly enough, the assistant pastor at the time was a sex offender - he liked little girls. I confessed to him being molested at a movie theater and he didn't have much to say.

  5. I attended that very same school! I was ten years behind you. Sr Lillian was gone, and we had lots of lay teachers.

    1. It's nearly impossible to find evidence the school even existed.

  6. Thank you for my first laugh of the morning! When the hell are you going to write a book???

Oh Terry, you were one of those boys that loved the sisters so much, always had his homework on time, was quiet and couldn't wait to recite the Act of Contrition completely correct...the first time! I don't think we would have been hanging out much back then! : )

    1. I did love the sisters and I did do my homework and special reports, stayed after to help one of the sisters, but those who taught me didn't waste any time on me. Seriously. I think it was because my mother was divorced, remarried to my dad, and we were sort of attending school dependent upon the charity of others, since my dad was in an out of the slammer. I think they believed I didn't have a chance in hell.
