Hannah Montana (Miley Cyrus) apologized to her public because of racy photos in Vanity Fair. As if her cut-to-the-pubic-hair jeans, bare midriffs and tight tops have been more modest? Has Miley been such a model of decency for pre-tweens who emulate her style? The American cultural sexual exploitation of minors has been going on for decades; think Britney Spears and the way her handlers, supported by her mother, sexualized her image. Long before her was Brooke Shields. There is always an excuse, or someone to blame, as the innocent "victim" and her family climb the ladder to super-stardom.
.
Perhaps the police should raid the Cyrus' household and take the 15 year old Miley away and place her in foster care, and do the same with parents who permit their daughters to dress like sluts. It worked so well with the Fundamentalist Mormons in Texas.

ReplyDeleteShe looks like a gerbil.
ReplyDeleteWell, we all can learn from marketing maven Terry on how to write a blog headline to drive up our blog stats.
ReplyDeleteExcept if I posted photos like that, it would be an occasion of sin and I suspect my confessor would blame me for sixth commandment violations committed by others than me.
But the real question is: why doesn't some prosecuting attorney file charges against Vanity Fair for child endangerment?
One of the best legal decisions ever was made by the prosecuting attorney who filed statutory rape charges against Roman Polanski for having sex with a 14 year old minor. The guy has not been seen in this country since then.
If politicians had guts, they would demand extradition rights for such offenses from our decadent allies who think that is "normal human behavior."
Terry, I don't think anyone would not notice how her dress is cut. LOL

ReplyDeleteFifteen year old + racy photographs is a pretty disgusting combination. I guess Vanity Fair is turning into Abercrombie & Fitch.
ReplyDeleteI'm really disappointed in Annie Leibowitz (sp?). Even more disappointed in Miley's parents!
ReplyDeleteI saw this announced on *Entertainment Tonight* the other night while waiting for 7 o'clock to roll around. I detest that show anymore. I can't watch it without getting depressed & seriously cynical about our culture today.
When they had this on the news the other night, I started to ask my husband, "Would you let photos like those be take of your 15 year old daughter?" But, I only got the words, "Would you..." out of my mouth before my husband said, "NO WAY!" I can only wonder what the teen idols will be like when my kids are old enough to care :(
