Ireland approves gay marriage.
DUBLIN (AP) -- Irish voters have resoundingly backed amending the constitution to legalize gay marriage, leaders on both sides of the Irish referendum declared Saturday after the world's first national vote on the issue.
As the official ballot counting continued, the only question appeared to be how large the "yes" margin of victory from Friday's vote would be. Analysts said the "yes" support was likely to exceed 60 percent nationally when official results are announced later Saturday. - Read more here.

A sad reality that has come to pass after having given the Church so many Saints and vocations.
I do not like those murals...talk about forcing something so unnatural down one's throat. How are folks who are faithful to God and His Church supposed to teach their children what is right? Why not give equal time to a man and a woman married in the sight of God?
I was thinking of the Romans and their desire to force the Jewish people and the early Christians to worship their false gods or face death.
So then, aside from all the other calamities happening in the world, at times too hard to bear, now this.

DeleteMy kids are 15, 13 and 11. None of them believe in gay marriage.
It started when my son (he's the 15 yo) asked me if gay sex was wrong. He probably heard about it in his CCD class, because that's where we were going. I said yes, any sex outside of marriage is wrong.
He's not afraid to tell kids in his school that he doesn't believe in it and why. Did this lead to kids picking on him? You would think so in this hothouse climate, but the opposite happened. A lot of kids respect him for not following the herd. And a lot more of them think like him than we're led to believe.
Yes, hope must never be lost. Thank you for reminding me. Thank you too for sharing that your children do not accept the ways of the world. It seems so much easier to just go along with it all rather than stand firm.

What a difference a century can make. Msgr. Robert Hugh Benson's wrote "The Lord of the World" in 1907. In his novel, Ireland was the only country that didn't cave to secular humanism, especially once "incarnated" in Julian Felsenburgh, the Anti-christ. That seemed a plausible plot device 108 years ago, and now Ireland is the first to vote en masse for gay marriage!

DeleteI blame Dana - I'm pretty sure it's a reaction against her music. It offended the gays and night-clubbers I think. Of course U-2 didn't help much. Horrible music from those people.

Delete....the murals remind me of the old ( well, now Really Old....) movie, They Live: a pair of sunglasses picked up by a "drifter" ( another word just not used any more ) show him Reality - this is actually one of my Most Favorite Movies. yes: Of All Time. most appropriate for our times. totally secular....
ReplyDeleteDefinitely an under-rated movie--featuring Portland's own Rowdy Roddy Piper! The sunglasses have the same effect of coming out of Plato's Cave into light, or the effect of the Holy Spirit into holy hermits and saints.
