Clinging to my bishop comes easy. In the short time he has been here, I've been in audience for his exhortation outside Planned Parenthood, his homily at a mass celebrating traditional sacred music and a homily at a traditional Dominican rite mass (his mother was also there). Be assured, I'll shadow him as long as he's here!

There is a lovely video of what happened. The boy wandered up and simply refused to leave when gently urged to do so by attendants. He even helped to guide those who were being introduced to Francis. Gosh, some folk may be concerned about Francis' apparent lack of strictness but he is a God-send at this time when the Church is negotiating the troubled waters of child abuse and judgementalism.
I can't help but wonder and in thanksgiving, at the thought that Papa Francis, as the Vicar of Christ, allows himself to be touched and loved by so many. Think of the impact that has on so many folks who were put off by the Church as being cold and distant and uncaring. He is the real thing...yes, he takes risks and yes, he is criticized for it...but what matters is the life affirming gift he is to so many.
I read on Sister Anne's blog about a man she is helping since he is returning to the faith on account of the example of Papa Francis.

The fruits of his papacy are many and so soon too! Let's keep praying for him and for Papa Emerito too as I am sure his prayers are bearing fruit as well. ^^
Totally agree with you Yaya...Pope Francis is really destroying the thought that the Church is austere, remote, and separated from the world we have to toil in everyday.
By the way, this picture of the Holy Father with the little-boy hugging him and clinging to him reminds me a little of how children and young-people in general would also approach and stay close to blessed Pope John Paul II. And once in a dinner he was attending a man on his side asked him, "Holy Father, why is it that young-people love you so much and are drawn to you almost as to a magnet"?? And the Holy Father stopped eating and looked at the man and answered, "It's the Holy Spirit"! I loved that answer because he was giving the "credit" to God and not to himself or any likeable qualities he had. I believe too because of him being so prayerful, praying the Rosary and praying in front of the Blessed Sacrament everyday that God and the Blessed Virgin Mary blessed him so much and then children can see that, perhaps more than us adults. We can be sure too, that Papa Francis will give all the glory to Jesus when asked why so many are attracted to him as well. When one radiates the glory of Christ in their person, one cannot help but be drawn to Him who is our Lord.
And of course, being that our Papa is a Jesuit, well, their motto is after all: "Ad maiorem Dei gloriam" or " For the greater glory of God."
In my parish there was a little boy a few years ago, who would run up to Father after Mass, and put his brakes on just short of running into him. He knew that Fr. was close to God. The family moved away a few months ago and I was very sad; there are three boys now and they're absolutely delightful.
