Sadly, after Mass this evening, I received word that Fr. Guarnizo's assignment at St. John Neuman Parish has been withdrawn and he has been placed on administrative leave with his priestly faculties removed. The notification was signed by Monsignor Knestout, Vicar General and Moderator of the Curia for the Archdiocese of Washington, D.C.. The reason stated for the suspension is that Monsignor Knestout has received several complaints against Fr. Guarnizo claiming intimidating behaviour on his part against parish staff and others, and 'that is incompatible with proper priestly ministry.'
This is very sad news. Please pray for Fr. Marcel Guarnizo. And all priests.
It is blindingly obvious that someone has something on Wuerl. There is no other possible explanation for this extreme action. I would think even liberals would be startled by this.

Is the "parish staff" bit for real? If throwing your weight around the parish office is grounds for removal, half the priests I know would be out on their ear.

no surprise- but very sad nonetheless. Cd Weurl from his time in Pittsburgh was known to persecute outspoken orthodox priests as he is all into "civil" Catholicism"- whatever that means. Be very careful with Weurl- there is a lot of smoke and mirrors there. Pray for the priest- not to lose his faith or give up the priesthood- for these attacks are often satanic in nature- esp. in light of the good father's standing his ground with the homosexual activist/ buddhist catholic lady and her lover of the other week's funeral Mass.

ReplyDeleteThe action taken by the Archdiocese is in accordance with Canon Law, and the letter clearly states that there will be an investigation with the hope that Fr Guarnizo will return to priestly ministry. Had Fr Guarnizo had been regarded as a liberal the people in this thread would have praised the Archdiocese. We should avoid the temptation to sin by making unsubstantiated statements and (as Terry wrote) pray for all concerned.

So that I can keep you from sinning, would you please cite the Canon Law that you reference. The person who posted as Anonymous is 'simply scurrilous?' Are you not simply pompous?
DeleteAs a priest, it is terrible to see Bishops (supposedly "Fathers" to their priests) throwing their sons to the wolves. It's sickening, but sadly, not surprising. There will be more of this in the future.

ReplyDeleteWhile I agree that this is ridiculous, I think it is a bit much to posit satanic influence when normal love of the world, cowardice, and a desire to not be seen as "mean" or "judgmental" are enough to explain these actions.
And how about showing a little charity regarding Cdl. Wuerl? We simply cannot know why he has done what he has done in the past. Sometimes priests really are impeccably orthodox, but they way they throw that around is grounds for concern - sometimes it's arrogance rather than firm grounding in the truth. Sometimes orthodox priests do go off the rails (read about an FSSP sermon where the priest said it was a sin, perhaps even mortal, for a man to go to a public pool or beach, and that it's a sin for women to wear pants). And sometimes the priests really is a good priest who is suffering for teaching the Truth.
My point is, in absence of knowing all the details, it's hard to say, and even then, normal human weakness, sinfulness, and stupidity can account for so much before asserting satanic influence.
Most younger priests I know today could very well end up on the wrong side of a parish council by not going along to get along. For example, having altar girls is optional and was originally intended for situations where there are too boys to serve. I know a number of priests, including younger pastors, who are phasing out this practice. Just imagine how parishioners could complain that the priest is being overbearing.
ReplyDeleteNow, in the Lansing diocese some years ago, there was a more traditional priest who had been ordained some years earlier who instituted a number of changes. If memory serves, it included use of all altar boys, changes to the music used (piano was removed, I think), and some other changes. Some parishioners got others to sign a complaint and it went to Bishop Boyea. He reviewed the complaints, spoke to the priest, then wrote back to all of these people a letter that was given to all parishioners of that parish. The bottom line is that Bishop Boyea told them that all changes made by the priest were within his rights as pastor of the place. This is what needs to happen.
What is so surprising about this? It was expected. This is the heresy of modernism in full bloom. Pope St. Pius X asked that all things be restored to Christ. Much as been lost and they have to be returned to what Christ has taught, not the potpourri of bureaucracy and redtape in the chancery. Fr. Guarnizo's fate ends up like Fr, Rodrigues in El Paso (who at least retains his priestly faculties but has been banished to a parish in the boonies. God will not be mocked.

With all due respect to the arch-bishop, would this discipline have been made public or even imposed at all had it not been for the previous incident? The timing here is unbelievable. Yes, the allegations against Fr. Marcel may have merit, maybe by some coincidence, this matter has been brewing for some time, but for all of this to come out in this manner, at this time, seemingly in support of the lesbian complaints and desires for vengeance? Please. This is too much to swallow. Perhaps Cardinal Wuerl should just hire the lesbian as his new aide and give her authority for the diocese? I can't imagine a worse way to have handled any of this.

I don't understand. I wish the Cardinal would explain it. He can publically reprimand a priest but he refuses to publically reprimand catholic politicians who publically flip the bird to church teaching? I work with very devout Protestants who ask me this question and I don't know how to answer them. These same Protestants looked at all the catholic Senators that voted down the Blunt Amendment and stare at me for an answer. I'm embarrassed. I wish the Cardinal would explain it.

ReplyDeleteI have been a faithful, practicing Catholic my whole (62 yrs) life. Because of things such as this, I no longer am a member of a church and I never contribute to a collection. I still attend mass every Sunday and support numerous charities. Strangely, I feel that being a member and tithing the church make me complicitous in their heresy.

But, if he really is, what makes him so different than so many other parish priests through-out the land? In fact, for my most of my life, the local pastor has mainly run his parish as a dictatorship. How many times have typical Catholics been given the brush-off when expressing concerns, asking questions, or voicing opinions?
ReplyDeleteMaybe he has a chronic personality disorder and needs psychiatric care. But, again, that would make him no different than many other parish priests through-out the land who receive such care for drugs, alcoholism, etc.
I'm quite sure that as I am not a canon lawyer I have no clue as to the rights and privileges of both the cardinal and this poor parish priest. I'm sure the cardinal is within his rights to have thus suspended this poor parish priest.
And, how many other complaints have cardinals and bishops received over the years about other parish priests who were suspected and accused of doing much worse?

So, once again, the rank and file Pew Sitting Catholics are left in shock and awe. Many of us can share the tales of priests who have done some amazingly wicked and sinful things, with complaints lodged and summarily ignored. We know all too well that filing a concern with the Church Authorities is similar to communicating with your Congressman.
I don't expect that the good Cardinal will detail or justify any of his decisions regarding this poor parish priest.
And, I have no clue as to whether this poor priest is being sandbagged, railroaded, scapegoated, or otherwise tosssed, flung and thrown under the proverbial bus.
But, what I do know is that this has every appearance of being a summary punishment against a priest who seemingly tried to do his job worthily. Independent accounts of the lesbian funeral controversy have recounted his general competence and the fact that this poor priest seemingly tried to do the right thing in denying the publicly proud buddhist lesbian from receiving Holy Communion.
Yet again, our church leaders have created and bred an environment of confusion, seemingly double-standard hypocrisy and contempt for the Pew Sitting Catholics.
I am in the St John Neumann parish. I find it highly suspect that all these allegations of "intimidating the parish staff" would just now surface after we've shown some much-needed light on Ms Johnson and her (lack of) credibility. In other words, the chancery realized "plan A" was a failure so they resort to "plan B". Parapidimos, had Father Guarnizo been regarded as liberal, they would have praised, not punished Father Guarnizo. I'll have more follow-up on my own blog.

In this case, Cd. Weurl suspends a priest in good standing right after an incident provoked by a in your face lesbian activist-is that a coincidence and yet he allows all the pro-abort so called Catholic politicians to receive Holy Communion in his diocese. ReplyDeleteI think if you look back in Church history at any given time, the number of people who failed to believe in that matter of doctrine was far from 100%. that's why do much was done to emphasize it. Not that this is good. It's jut that it's not unique to today, and certainly this whole issue is not helping at all.
Servus, I know Akita is approved, but the only sources on Our Lady of Good Success's actual words are available only through TIA and associates. I have checked sites in Spanish and from Ecuador, abd tge words always lead back to Marian Horvat, a woman who hates, hates the Second Vatican Council an has made a career of calumniating the pope (and John Paul II before him). I would be very, very careful about the text of that apparition.
ReplyDeleteAkita is another story, but before we assume we are in the end times, let us remember how many visions of tge imminent end times have been received over the years, and let us not forget that this is not the first time the Churh has been full of evil and corrupt men.
Also, always remember that things are better now than they were in the 70s, 80s, or 90s. I am always very concerned when I see laymen on the Internet accuse specific shepherds of having abandoned the Faith (not that you did this). Those who accuse Cardinal Wuerl and others of being in league with Satan had better be careful.
The problem I have with these "many priests and cardinals are on the road to perdition and taking many souls with them" stuff is not that I doubt it is true (it always has been), but that when that is said, so many people seem to think they KNOW which ones these are.
ReplyDeleteIt also does great damage to me - I suffer from scrupulosity, an I need to trust my confessors. Two very
good and solidly orthodox priests, but they do not say women sin by wearing pants, or that bathing suits or a sin, or that dancing is a sin, or that I need 51% beeswax candles to be saved. So because they are not as rigorous as some other priests, I start to wonder "what if
they are those bad priests - after all, they aren't puritanical"? They even tell me not to get paranoid about what is said in visions and apparitions (I do).
In the end it's all fear - fear and nothing more. All that keeps me going is fear of hell.

ReplyDeleteJust because Marian Horvat happens to be someone who writes about Our Lady of Good Success doesn't necessarily invalidate the Church approval does it? I don't whether I would go so far as to say that Marian Horvat hates HATES Vatican II as you stated. There are a lot of credible people in the Church who have issue with much of what came out of Vatican II. I don't think that invalidates them. Msgr Brunero Gherardini is one of them.
I just put up what I have read that Our Lady said in various apparitions. I made no commentary about who or which cardinals, bishops or priests were being referred to.
trust in the abundant mercy of GOD the father and in Our Lady be faithful to the daily recitation of the rosary. Pray to your Guardian Angel for light. Stay close to Jesus in the Eucharist. There is no need to fear. TRUST rather. there is no need to be scrupulous. I know how that is easier said than done but we have to trust Our Lord on the one hand but not be naieve on the other.
Ummmm....maybe somebody can explain whether or not the Gay Clergy really does control the Church?

Servus - I hope you didn't think I was accusing you of pointing out certain priests and bishops. And as fad as TIA and hating - read the site - they do much more than take issue (some things DO need clarification, but we need to be submissive the Holy Father and tge Magisterium, not view them with suspicion). TIA in more than a few places questions tge validity of the sacraments in the "Novus Ordo", which persons to my Baptism and every other sacrament I have received.
ReplyDeleteAnd I didn't question that OLGS was approved - I questioned the text of the apparition, which is only available through Horvat or people associated with her. If you look at the diocese of Quito's website, the story is different than Horvat gives. Also if you search in Spanish, or search only Ecuadorian websites, you won't find that text.
So why I am saying is that what is often passed as the text of the apparition may be questionable, not the apparition itself.

ReplyDeleteI'm no fan of TIA and I don't frequent their web presence. My point was that I don't negate the message of Our Lady of Good Success based on what TIA happens to say or not say about it.
I'm with Bishop Athanasius Schneider. There does need to be a clarification of Vatican II and preferably in the form of a Syllabus. I think this is long over due. My hope with the theological discussions between the Vatican appointed theologians and SSPX was that perhaps this would be just that. I remain hopeful but above all prayerful that this will be brought to a happy issue for the good of the Church.
But servus, it's not what TIA have to SAY about it, it's that the words attributed to the apparition are strangely absent in ANY source that is not associated with TIA or Horvat. In fact, they boast about having the ONLY information available in English.
ReplyDeleteMy point is - while the apparition is approved, I do not know if that text is approved or even authentic. This is also true of the details of Mother Mariana's life that usually go with the words of the apparition.
When a bit of research is conducted in Spanish, that text does not appear (except for once again, a site associated with TIA), but rather different kinds of information about Mariana and the apparitions.
Furthermore, even though the apparitions were approved, the text that is available supposedly comes from a Franciscan to whom Mariana appeared in an apparition and dictated the whole story. Then somehow this story was learned by Horvat's associate, and Horvat herself published it.
Mercury I think I get it now. TIA, Horvat and co have knowingly or unknowingly spread a spurious spin on the alleged messages of Our Lady of Good Success that strangely happen to coincide with TIA's/Horvat's take on the current ongoing crisis in the Roman Catholic Church in order to legitimise their own claims thereby creating a conspiracy and sowing seeds of confusion and doubt amongst the Marian faithful? Am I understanding this correctly?

What amuses me here is the diocese doesn't have the beanbag to say the real reason why they want him suspended, they make up some bs charges. And of course the reason it took them a couple of weeks to suspend him is they had to "find" the trumped up charges.

Fr Marcel Guarnizo has a most unusual biography. Born in Columbia, South America, raised in Arlington, Virginia, attended Bishop O'Connell High School there, seminary in Rome, Italy, ordained in Moscow ? priest of the archdiocese of Moscow? Shows up in a Maryland parish one year ago. How and why? Internet articles indicate that he is founder of organizations to reform all of Russia, "reclaim its patrimony" and reform all of Eastern Europe. Really. The same stories also indicate that he is not fully fluent in Russian language. Oh. In the US, he had many idiosyncrasies. He dressed in flowing clerical capes with ornate embroidery, extra flowing surpluses in demonstrations outside a local abortion clinic, used Latin quite alot (unusual for a man who was born about 14 years after Latin masses stopped being the US norm), although raised in the US, insisted on pronouncing the name of his parish very differently than the US pronunciation, publicly led exorcism prayers (on Youtube), and was viewed as more than eccentric by many. Now none of this is any reason to remove a priest, but he was certainly strange in many respects. Was he properly psychologically screened, trained , and ordained? Just how did he end up in the archdiocese of Washington to begin with, other than the priest shortage? I unfortunately think that he may have been unstable, although he had many good attributes.

b.) Do you really think that things now are WORSE than they were in the 60s, 70s, and 80s? If you do, what do you base this on?
c.) Do you think that all prophecies MUST come to pass or can they, by prayer, be altered?

If that is the case, I'd better stop trusting my priest, my confessor, my spiritual director. In fact, I'd better make sure to look to no priest whatsoever fro counsel.

La Salette Is an approved apparition, but the three-page Secret given to the Pope in 1851 (the approved revelation) and the book published in 1879, when Melanie was much older and had become involved in politics and came to have less patience with the Church, is full of facts woven in with fiction and outright falsehoods (several prophecies predict 19th century event that didn't happen)

ReplyDeletePray for Guarnizo and stop worrying about his overly embroidered robes and whether he uses Latin "quite a lot"....so does the Pope! Latin is the language of the church after all. I grow weary from so much disconnect from our Catholic heritage and patrimony as though it's normal for a Catholic to speak this way. Sentire cum Ecclesia! there's some latin for you! Think with the Church! No Sensus Catholicus no common sense. I'm sure many of us here appear "strange" in many respects. God help us.

ReplyDeleteTo the comment that Father Marcel insisted on saying the name of St. John Neumann parish very differently than the US pronunciation: St. John Neumann parish is sometimes pronounced “Noyman” which is old world and sometimes as “Newman” or the US way. I am a parishioner there and it is said both ways. Believe me when I say it creates confusion to those outside the parish. Father Marcel happens to pronounce it the old world way which is the correct way.
(Czech: Jan Nepomucký Neumann, German: Johannes Nepomuk Neumann ) The ethnic German family name is pronounced NOYmann in both German and Czech in the homeland of the saint. not NEWman. he is named no doubt after St Johannes Nepomuk. (1345 – March 20, 1393) the martyr of the confessional who rather than break the seal of confession was thrown into the Vltava river. in Catholic Europe one sees his statues adorning bridges.

I attend St. John Neumann (which I pronounce Noy-mann) so there is nothing unusual about that.
ReplyDeleteGiven the late term abortions (yes well into weeks 30 plus of the pregnancy- if you have the money) going on at the clinic- prayers in Latin with full clerical wear were more than warranted. I was there on the evening in question, and it was a powerful night of prayer for life.
As to why he would come back to the general area where he attended high school, has friends etc. No one ever does that....except they do all of the time.
This is a solid priest, a powerful preacher and confessor who preaches and upholds all of the teachings of the one, holy, catholic and apostolic church. There are those who did not like what they were hearing and who think he should have just given communion and not let the woman or her attacks that day get to him. Unfortunately, I think the chancery wants to keep everyone smiling and unchallenging.
My prayer is that father ends up vindicated and in a diocese with a bishop who values a priest who are not afraid of the gospel.

Remember St. Therese of Avila and St. Padre Pio, amongst others, who were persecuted by Church authorities for a time...God allows faithful servants to be humiliated as part of the process of becoming saints. Let us pray that Fr. Marcel will remain faithful to Christ and his vocation during these trying times.

ReplyDeleteWhy is everyone blaming Cardinal Wuerl? I am confused - isn't this an action taken by a bishop? If so, is it common for Cardinals to come in and reverse decisions made on the diocesan level, however dumb they may be?
ReplyDeleteIt seems that priest-bishop-cardinal-pope is not the same as captain-major-colonel-general and that a higher-ranking Church official cannot just come in and reverse things.
I fully agree hat this priest is being treated unjustly, and he truly seems like a good and holy priest, but that said, there may be more to the story. Maybe Wuerl is doing nothing more than letting the bishop be the bishop of his own dioese?

ReplyDeleteCardinal Wuerl is the ordinary of the Archdiocese of Washington. Bishop Knestout, the signatory or the letter, is his executive officer--so to speak.
It is widely believed that he is acting under the direction of the Ordinary...

ReplyDeleteI am not saying Cardinal Wuerl is perfect, I'm just questioning our right to make judgments based on what we know. Some people are essentially saying the Cardinal is an agent of evil who is deliberately thwarting the Faith. This seems like a heavy, heavy accusation to make against any man, much less a Cardinal.
It is a shame for all catholic leaders including St John Neumann Catholic Church to defame the priest. They all go to church but do not believe the Bible. Maybe it is an easy way for some to live a good living.

The Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of Our Lord should be desecrated in order to spare the feelings of a contumacious lesbian? Of a Buddhist, who, by definition, is forbidden to receive Holy Communion?
ReplyDeleteThe Bride of Christ has been in a state of collapse since and because of the egregious Second Vatican Council. Among a host (pun intended) of disasters has been the almost complete abandonment of Church discipline and governance. Father Marcel Guarnizo is a rare exception to the systemic poltroonery, and I applaud his courageous and uncompromising defense of and commitment to Holy Mother Church.
I agree w/first poster - Wuerl thinks the church is a stained glass window (and if anyone would know, he would). As the saying goes, people who live in (stained) glass houses shouldn't (can’t) throw stones. God's word gives us two metaphors for the church: a rock and the radiant bride of Christ w/out stain or wrinkle. It also tells us that a 12-year old boy brought down Goliath w/one small rock. The RC hierarchy has and continues to sin against God and unless they repent there is no hope for them. Do not worship w/them lest you serve the devil. But do not fret because of them, for they shall soon be cut down like the grass and wither as the green herb - Trust in the LORD and do good; dwell in the land and feed on His faithfulness (Psalm 36). And if it comes that you should be a martyr, like Fr. Marcel, Pavone or so many others whose names we don’t know, trust that the LORD will be w/you as he was w/the children in the fire, that He will put the words in your mouth you are to say, and that if you suffer unto blood the holy angels will come and carry you to Paradise.

beware of indulging into too much 'persecution-porn' it can arouse far from charitable urges, and manifest in highly irrational arguments in defense of the gift of faith.

The fact is Father Guarnizo is a controversial priest with a history that the Archdiocese of Washington wants to keep under wraps. The Catholic Church has a long tradition of always attempting to avoid scandal so the fact that this priest was removed should be of no surprise.

In September the Catholic Diocese of Bathurst, New Brunswick removed an elderly priest, 85-year-old Fr. “Pope Benedict XVI recently appointed Donald Wuerl to the Archdiocese of Washington, D.C. Wuerl was a protégé of Bishop John Wright (initially the Auxiliary Bishop of Boston). According to Engel, “Wright’s pederastic predilections were an ‘open secret’ in the Archdiocese of Boston.” Bill Burnett accused Bishop Wright of pederasty. Engel writes: “From 1980 to 1985, Fr. Wuerl served as Vice Rector and Rector of St. Paul Seminary. The seminary had a reputation for rampant homosexuality going back to the days of Bishop Wright.” Then Wuerl became Bishop of Pittsburgh in February 1988, fulfilling his protégé role.
Writes Engel: “After Donald Wuerl was posted to the Diocese of Pittsburgh, he permitted Dignity/Pittsburgh Masses to continue for eight more years…. Dignity/Pittsburgh was one of the last chapters to be evicted from Catholic facilities in the United States [on orders from the Vatican]. According to Pittsburgh Post-Gazette staff writer Ann Rodgers-Melnick, ‘Banning Dignity was a sad moment for Wuerl.’… Under Wuerl, the Pittsburgh Diocese has become a stomping ground for nationally-known doctrinal and moral miscreants including Father (now ex-priest) Matthew Fox, Sister Fran Ferder, Father Robert Nugent, Sister Jeannine Gramick, Father Raymond Brown and howling feminists Rosemary Radford Ruether and Monica Hellwig.”
In the summer of 1996, Mother’s Watch featured a lengthy article called “Bishop Wuerl’s Magnificent Obsession.” Engel mentions a segment “dealing with Wuerl’s exceptional relations with the members of the Pittsburgh ‘gay’ community who refer to the bishop as ‘Donna’ Wuerl….” We’ve heard that too. “

If a Quaker, a Lutheran or a Buddhist, desiring communion had introduced himself as such, before Mass, a priest would be obligated to withhold communion. If someone had shown up in my sacristy drunk, or high on drugs, no communion would have been possible either. If a Catholic, divorced and remarried (without an annulment) would make that known in my sacristy, they too according to Catholic doctrine, would be impeded from receiving communion. This has nothing to do with canon 915. Ms. Johnson’s circumstances are precisely one of those relations which impede her access to communion according to Catholic teaching. Fr. Marcel Guarnizo could have been endorsing the rigorist interpretation of the dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus. The same interpretation of Fr. Leonard Feeney, the Church Fathers, popes, Councils, Catechisms, Vatican Council I and II and Michael Voris at Real Catholic TV.com.
Ad Gentes 7 Vatican Council II says all need to enter the Cburch for salvation. All includes the Quaker,Lutheran and Buddhist. (1).
Lumen Gentium 14 says faith and baptism are necessary for salvation. The Buddhist does not have faith or baptism. The Lutheran does not have Catholic Faith.(2)
Dominus Iesus says though Christ died for all, for salvation all need to enter the Church with faith and baptism. Non Catholics do not have faith and baptism. They need to respond and enter the Church to saved.(3)
The dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus, the infallible teaching mentioned by Pope Pius XII in the Letter of the Holy Office says all need to convert into the Church to avoid Hell. (4)
The Catechism of the Catholic Church repeats the teaching of Vatican Council II and other magisterial texts. All need to enter the Church with Catholic Faith and the baptism of water, one needs to enter the Church as through a door.(5)
Note: There are no known cases on earth of a non Catholic saved in invincible ignorance, the baptism of desie, a good conscience, the seeds of the Word etc. We can only accept in principle that these are possibilities known only to God. So they do not contradict any of the magisterial texts mentioned above.

Just as Fr. Marcel Guarnizo is put on administrative leave for political reasons the Archbishop of Washington gives the Eucharist to pro abortion politicians for political reasons.Also for political reasons Catholics do not want to discuss the dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus.
When Fr. Marcel said ‘If a Quaker, a Lutheran or a Buddhist, desiring communion had introduced himself as such, before Mass, a priest would be obligated to withhold communion.’ he was using the ecclesiology (understanding of Church) of outside the church no salvation. This was the ecclesiology which Pope John Paul II used in Ecclesia di Eucarestia.
Those who are not baptized, or are baptized but are not living the Gospel according to the Catholic Church are in grave sin. They are not to receive the Eucharist. St. Paul tells us that those who receive the Eucharist in this unworthy state bring damnation upon them self.
No non Catholic has the ‘right’ to receive the Eucharist .Not because he is condemned already but because he has the opportunity to convert into the Catholic Church and receive the Sacraments which save. Jesus saves through the Sacraments.
Outside the Sacraments there is no known salvation in the present time.
For political reasons the Archdiocese of Washington has not announced that the Buddhist lesbian woman will not be able to receive the Eucharist. If she does come to receive the Eucharist during Mass in Washington a priest or Eucharistic Minister will give her the Eucharist. She will receive the Eucharist even though she has not rectified the scandal in public i.e. she has not denied that she is a Buddhist and is a practising, active lesbian living in sin. She needs to make the public clarification and go also for Confession, before receiving the Eucharist.
The Archdiocese of Washington is not likely to make this announcement. Senator Kennedy never made any such clarification. Neither did the Archdiocese clarify any change in his position on abortion. Neither did the Archdiocese of Boston mention that the Senator received absolution before his death. He was given the Eucharist in Washington and a funeral in Boston. According to the teachings of the Church and the public scandal of which he was a part of, he was oriented to Hell at the time of death.
The priority is politics and then the Eucharist.The Archdiocese of Boston like Washington would welcome lesbians and homosexuals receiving the Eucharist at Mass. The Vatican cannot apply Canon 915 against the cardinals. Would there be a schism if this done even in the interest of the Eucharist? The Vatican has not issued a clarification on this issue of the Eucharist in Washington.A Deacon of the Archdiocese of Washington will not discuss the issue of extra ecclesiam nulla salus with reference to the Eucharist. Probably if he does, they’ll suspend him too.
In the media, Catholic and secular, we are getting a canned, politically safe version of the Catholic Faith and sadly it is being extended to the Eucharist.
According to Vatican Council II (AG 7, LG 14) non Catholics are oriented to Hell and if they are all oriented to Hell then they are not to receive the Eucharist.
Jesus watches from the tabernacle. At night he is alone in most churches in Washington, if not all the churches. He watches and he knows. He feels.He is left there abandoned and now they are abandoning church teachings. They are allowing sacrilege and sin for the sake of convenience, expedience and politics.The Mass is not just a sacrifice for Jesus, an unbloody Sacrifice, it is a source of pain in so many ways.

Homosexuality and lesbianism will always be a mortal sin.It is grave matter and the woman has admitted it in this case.She persists in receiving the Eucharist and still persists in the sin.

As an Orthodox Presbyterian, I would fully expect to have been refused communion, and I would not be offended. What exactly is the controversy? I applaud Rev. Guarnizo for maintaining fidelity to the faith he espouses. May he take some comfort in the knowledge he is in the prayers of many brethren on this matter, as I believe him to be a faithful brother in service to our common Lord and Savior.
