We knew then that he was a martyr.
In thanksgiving for the beatification of Blessed Oscar Romero, who in the words of Fr. James Martin, S.J.: Oscar Romero was clearly a martyr and should have been declared one decades ago.
We can say that, but we forget these things happen when God allows them to. We can't discern his purpose. Otherwise we are like those who criticize the popes because they didn't reveal the third secret of Fatima or carry out some sort of consecration in the manner we expected.
Certainly politics delayed the beatification - but it happened now. We can thank God for favors granted. We need to avoid politicizing Romero any further than he has been.
More martyrs are coming, faster and faster.
