Broken News! Latin Mass coming to the Cathedral of St. Paul...

Nah!  I just made that up - but it will happen.  Anyway - there were some new assignments announced in the Archdiocese of St. Paul/Minneapolis today:

  • News is Fr. John Ubel is leaving St. Agnes to become Rector of the Cathedral, effective July 1, 2012.

  • Fr. Joseph Johnson will go to Holy Family in St. Louis Park.

I know!  Could the Cathedral be reintroducing the Extraordinary Form of Mass on its schedule?  Fr. Ubel has experience celebrating the EF... Soooooooooooooo.

A reader tells me Fr. Mark Moriarty is going to St. Agnes, but I haven't heard where Fr. Dufner will be assigned.

No word yet about Fr. Z either.

Thanks to the girl with the rubber tatoo for the tip.

  1. Fr. Johnson has a Facebook page and posted his own letter. God bless him.

My family, parishioners of St. Agnes, are profoundly saddened by the news of the departure of our beloved pastor. He has taken a divided community and a declining school (the only K-12 Catholic school left in the Archdiocese) and build a powerful witness to the beauty of faith, community and education. Tears of joy for the recipient of such a fine priest. Just plain tears for me.

Will certainly miss Fr. Dufner. He's about as good as they get. Hopefully he'll be reassigned to Joan of Arc - clean up that pit of non-Catholicism. He's just the man to do it!

Fr. Dufner went to Epiphany in Coon Rapids.
