Terry, how does one make reparation? How do we do it without "overdoing it", going beyond what we can profitably do? I understand that trying to take on all kinds of heavy penances can be a serious manifestation of pride.
I force myself to go to Mass and pray the Rosary daily. I wish I could love it, but it's hard - it's not at all what I *feel like* doing. Can I see it as a penance, can I offer it in reparation?
Mecury--what I like to keep in mind is the scripture which said (paraphrased) "The least you do for these little ones you do for me." The "little ones" do not necessarily have to be children, but to serve all in Christ's name..
Like I was saying abit ago....serving Christ as a joyful servant rather than prideful or personal benefit. Yes Rosaries and other devotions are a form and a good guide to get you started, but also so is a genuine "good morning" to a fellow coworker or helping an older person with their groceries. By doing good in Jesus' name help to repatraite the evil that is done against Him. Also time in front of the Blessed Sacrament, keeping Him company. I also keep Him company (as He keeps me company) on long travel road trips. I learned alot about keeping Him company during long nights of guard duties when I was in the military..
RC - not saying he had green eyes, just that it's not impossible. OBL was an Arab, and there were no Arabs on Palestine in the first century. Occasionally, even in the Middle East, one can find someone with lighter hair or eyes.
And frankly, it really doesn't matter - some people paint Him black. That doesn't bother me either, unless it's some New Ager deliberately trying to be "multicultural" for the gel of it.
Today (a first Saturday) we could make reparation to the Immaculate Heart of Mary:
"See, My daughter, My Heart surrounded by thorns which ungrateful men pierce at every moment by their blasphemies and ingratitude. You, at least, try to console Me... say to all those who, for five months, on the first Saturdays, confess, receive Holy Communion, recite the Rosary, and keep Me company during fifteen minutes while meditating on the 15 mysteries of the Rosary, in a spirit of reparation to me, I promise to assist them at the hour of death with all the graces necessary for the salvation of their souls."
In terms of our Lord's Sacred Heart, Jesus told St. Faustina that nothing hurts Him more than distrust. I wonder then in simply making acts of trust or trying to trust Him more in our concrete circumstances - even unto folly, as Little Therese said - would not console Him in some way.

RealityCheck ... my Jewish mother-in-law had 'green' eyes and very blond hair ... and one of her sons is a strawberry blond with red freckles and light brown eyes ... nuff said other than the Holy Shroud gives us a very good image of what Christ looked like ...
RealityCheck, geneticists understand it is possible for Jesus and Mary to have had blue or green eyes. In fact, many of my muslim husband's muslim cousins have green eyes and blue eyes. I suggest you research before you make such foolish remarks.
I know I don't understand how great the need for reparation is...but to meditate on His Holy Face was how so many of the saints came to understand.
I have a black and white sketching of His Holy Face on a card set on a tall dresser in my bedroom.. I can see it from wherever I am in the room and inside is the Litany of the Holy Face of Jesus..
Your painting has the rare quality of drawing you in and inviting to look ever deeper into His Face.
It's beautiful Terri..I'm only an amateur art appreciator..: ) but you've inspired me to look closer into His Face...and pray to understand better.
Merc - as for how to make reparation - Patrick pointed to Our Lady's requests - and that is what it appears heaven asks - 'make everything you do a sacrifice'. The very first of course is keeping the commandments, and then being faithful to the duties of our state in life. And what sara said.
Caroline has it right, I think - to contemplate the Holy Face (not my reproduction) but as the psalm says, to savor the swetness of the Lord, to behold his temple. All of our good works flow from there.
As for reproductions of my work - I haven't made any prints of anything. My bad.
