Even the dogs...

I love this photo of the fallen soldier's dog.  Story here.

  1. You ever read those articles where scientists try to rationalize away animals' loyalty, and assert that it's all projection and wishful thinking on our part?

I think it's they who are guilty of wishful thinking. The love and loyalty of dogs especially (and cats who aren't too vain) is a true gift of God and a treasure in this world.

  4. It is a picture of loyalty, isn't it?
The man to his country. The dog to the man.

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord. May perpetual light shine upon him. May he and all the souls of the faithful departed through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

  5. The dog knew his master's soul was gone, that he was just not hiding in that box.

God bless the fallen soldier, and his loyal pooch.

    That's a good dog.

I think that next time one of my children asks whether dogs go to heaven, I'll recall this image, and tell them "yes...they do."

  7. In the Hierarchy of Being, ultimate perfection is the Sacred Humanity of the God-Man, Our Lord Jesus Christ, and in the Immaculate Soul of His Most Holy Mother Mary.

While dogs possess souls, their souls expire when the dog expires.

Holy Mother Church teaches only Man and the Angels were created for Heaven.
