The Road to Genderlessness...

People think this stuff is a joke.
.
Or at the most the provenance of a subgroup of intellectual and cultural elites.
.
That Swedish couple raising a child without gender - not a joke.
.
Cher thought she gave birth to and raised a little girl named Chastity - now she's a he - well sort of.  No breasts, no penis, and lots of testosterone.  No joke.
.
Lady Gaga, Elton John - born this way.  What way?  No joke.
.
Ever heard of sexual fluidity?  No joke.
.
From Lisa Diamond:  An Associate Professor of Psychology and Gender Studies at the University of Utah.  Her new book, Sexual Fluidity: Understanding Women’s Love and Desire challenges everything we thought we knew about fixed notions of sexuality:
.
Fluidity and a broadened version of sexuality could get us to ask the questions, what is healthy sexuality?  How can this potentially help someone accept their sexual desires?  How can this help us adopt a more accepting and empowering view of sexuality writ large for all individuals at all ages?   We need to get over this anxiety about sexuality.  It would be an amazing thing if a thirteen year old went into health class was told, “you are at the beginning of an incredible journey.  I’m going to give you some tools and strategies for figuring out what you want and how to get it.  But you are in the beginning of an adventure and it’s going to be great!”  That would be a really profound transformation. - Source
.
Genderlessness is very much related to GLBTQ interests.
.
Sociologist Mary Bernstein writes: "For the lesbian and gay movement, then, cultural goals include (but are not limited to) challenging dominant constructions of masculinity and femininity, homophobia, and the primacy of the gendered heterosexual nuclear family (heteronormativity). Political goals include changing laws and policies in order to gain new rights, benefits, and protections from harm."[2] Bernstein emphasizes that activists seek both types of goals in both the civil and political spheres. - Source
.
If gender identity is fluid then sexual orientation is as well.
.
“If gender identity is fluid, then sexual orientation is as well,” contends psychology grad student lorne m. dickey, who identifies as a gay FTM and spells his name entirely with lowercase letters.  Though many scientists and laypersons believe sexual orientation is fixed and immutable, dickey disagrees.  His own experience suggests otherwise: “Prior to transition, I identified as a lesbian.  I’d never once had sex with a man. Shortly after beginning my transition, it was clear… I was more interested in being sexual with a man than I was with a woman.” - Source
.
The Evolved.
.
Leaders of the lesbian and gay movement of the 1970s, 80s and 90s often attempted to hide masculine lesbians, feminine gay men, transgendered people, and bisexuals from the public eye, creating internal divisions within LGBT communities. - Source
.
All of that has changed today, which accounts in part for the movement towards 'genderlessness'.

Always nice to know that the Jebbies are leading the charge. They posted commentary at America Magazine a while back.

    Sexual fluidity? Sexual diversitiy?
Let's bring back an awareness of what used to be undertood as *sexual depravity*.

Poor Chastity, she looks so terribly and deeply unhappy. I pray for her to find Jesus, His Mother, and His peace.

  6. it's such a booster shot to know that i've been so out of the lifestyle now, i don't get the new lingo. woohoo!

question: if you're a gay female transgendered man (and by saying so, the inference is that you believe you are now a man), why reference the female aspect at all? so a gay female would be attracted to women. but inside you feel like you're really a man. so you have a sex change to become a man, but you still have the attraction for women. so wouldn't you then be straight transgendered and not gay?

    i need a cocktail.

  7. In modern culture we protect ourselves from truth with a bodyguard of lies; reason gets in the way of this twisted objective ...

  10. I got alot of insight into the transgendered from my transgendered professor this past term. (male to female)..what this individual had to go through..a very deeply religious man, leader in his church, father and grandfather, distinguised professor..yet every morning when he woke up and looked in the mirror he had to live the lie...much as I heard some homosexuals who were told.."Oh just marry a nice man/woman, start a family..it'll all work out."

Although there is no way to totally understand what they are experiencing, we CAN be emphatic and supportive, and get rid of the discrimination that abounds...simple things such as getting/holding a job, and ability to rent an apartment..although they may or may not be "Born that way", they are still human, creations of God, Made in His image...

  11. Why is their cross any heavier to bear than say: a kleptomaniac, pedophile, arsonist, cerebral palsy, paralysis, autism, blindness, deafness, severe acne, dwarfism, a big nose, agoraphobia, etc. etc. etc.?

We all have things about us that we would prefer not to have, things that just are there but mustn't be used as excuses for sinful behaviour.

It is never the easy path to live according to God's laws.

You may assume from this that I live each day with a "thorn in my side". I too look in the mirror and know there is a huge cross I must daily pick up and trudge along with. The difference is that I understand that this is part of the penalty of living in a fallen world, and that I am no worse off than anyone else; that I am not given license to use my own disability/condition/pathology to indulge in self-pity, sin, exemption or depravity.

God made humankind but I don't for a second think that he designed me with a problem. That is the luck of the draw and we all get a piece of the s(*&y pie!

I am so saddened by Chas Bono. None of the treatments etc seem to give her any joy or fulfillment. She looks terribly depressed in every photo I have see of her. She smiles with her lips and her poor sad eyes tell the tale. She needs our pity, our love, our compassion, and our prayers as much as we need those of others.

I am grateful for the 'cloud of witnesses', saints, and Our Lady to whom I can daily ask for prayers on my and others' behalf.

Where is it written that we MUST have a pain free, easy, self-indulgent, 'nothing can ever go wrong' life? We are whiners, and whingers, and terribly misguided as a society. We are blamers and shirkers and crybabies.
    Our ancestors must be horrified.

OOpsie - first time rant. Don't know where that came from.
But, that is just what I think. Nobody is required to agree!

  13. 3puddytats, just because this man (and he is still a man, no matter what he does to himself) feels he is a female born into a male body, doesn't mean he is right. In fact, the very fact that he was born in a male body proves his feelings are misplaced. God did not err in creating him male.

Why is it easier for this man repeatedly to mutilate his body and fill it full of hormones that don't belong there and undergo counseling to "transition" to the opposite sex than it is to seek help in overcoming the desire to become something he's not and can never be? How would society be more compassionate in making it easier for him to put himself through this procedure rather than cure the disordered tendencies? And what about his wife and kids, who are necessarily destroyed by this? Why are we propped up to feel sorry for him, but not them? Why does the guy himself not prefer to sacrifice all his wants rather than harm them?

God does not want this man to be a woman, or He would have made him one. He needs repentance and conversion and spiritual counseling to bear his cross instead of trying to walk away from it (which will land him with even bigger and worse crosses in the end).
