All art is derivative.

El Greco: The Modena Triptych.
.
If you look closely, this exceptionally small work by El Greco seems to have inspired Spanish artists - and others - who came after El Greco.  One such painter who comes to mind is Dali.  We know El Greco began as an iconographer, but I wonder if he was influenced at all by Bosh?
.
Thanks to the ever popular Kat for introducing me to this El Greco.  She offers the full frontal view here.

  1. I love El Greco's works. I first came across him a little over ten years ago when I first saw his "El Cavallero de la Mano en el Pecho" (The Gentleman with the Hand on His Chest).

If I'm not mistaken, he also influenced Pablo Picasso.
