Try to enter the narrow way...

Abba Matoes said that three old men went to Abba Paphnutius, who was called Cephalus, to ask a word from him. The old man said to them, 'What do you want me to say to you? A spiritual word, or a bodily word?' They said, 'A spiritual word.' The old man said to them, 'Go, and choose trials rather than stillness, shame rather than glory, and to give rather than to receive.' - Abba Matoes

Lord of what? Death?

This is a really bizarre post, Terry.

Peace,

Today is the anniversary of Hiroshima and is also the feast of the Transfiguration - sorry you didn't get that.

I get the two dates. But why the comparison? Why not two separate posts?

Peace,

Michael

I clicked back to see if anyone commented, because I was perplexed (although the video was indescribably ... just indescribable). Bit of an unexpected juxtaposition. So thanks for the info. about the anniversary.

Should have asked, of course, when I was here the first time.

I seem to remember Pavel Chichikov writing a haunting poem that juxtaposes the Transfiguration and Hiroshima--but it's not on his main page any longer.

Anyway, this is a comparison other artistic Christians have already made. I'm not surprised Terry noticed it.
