Poetry Thursday

Did You Ever Know...

It must have been cold there in my shadow,

To never have sunlight on your face.

You were content to let me shine, thats your way.

You always walked a step behind.

So I was the one with all the glory,

While you were the one with all the strain.

A beautiful face without a name for so long.

A beautiful smile to hide the pain.

Did you ever know that youre my hero,

And everything I would like to be?

I can fly higher than an eagle,

For you are the wind beneath my wings.

It might have appeared to go unnoticed,

But Ive got it all here in my heart.

I want you to know I know the truth, of course I know it.

I would be nothing without you.

Did you ever know that youre my hero?

Youre everything I wish I could be.

I could fly higher than an eagle,
For you are the wind beneath my wings.

Did I ever tell you youre my hero?

Youre everything, everything I wish I could be.

Oh, and I, I could fly higher than an eagle,

For Cathy, you are the wind beneath my wings...

How much respect are you looking for? Happy New Year, for starters.

  8. thank you handsome - now you continue to garner the glory and attention ... it works quite well, that way ... draws the attention away from others and allows us to be about our work. and if i've been remiss, Happy New Year - and you have permission to celebrate it when and where and with whomever you choose.

  9. weird you have the photie of Joan Crawford at the top...
all the detractions and calumnies that woman endured - sure she was no angel ; and had been round the track more times than the mechanical rabbit ; but the thing that makes me respect her beyond imagining [apart from the talent ye Gods Mildred pierce is beyond compare !] is when Franchot Tone was sick and dying ; abandoned by everyone - she took him in and cared for him ; and it wasn't till decades after her death that anyone knew... That's special !
