Thursday poetry corner is back...

I know you all have missed this feature (especially Little Freak). I just wanted you to realize culture is not cheap. Tonight we have a lovely poem by Jim Morrison...
Untitled.

"Why do I drink?
So that I can write poetry.
Sometimes when it's all spun out
and all that is ugly recedes
into a deep sleep
There is an awakening
and all that remains is true
As the body is ravaged
the spirit grows stronger
Forgive me Father for I know
what I do
I want to hear the last Poem
of the last Poet." - James Morrison
There will never again be anyone like Jim Morrison!

  1. I thought you did your, er "poetry" on Friday evening after 5 p.m.? What happened?

Where's your post on the impact of Norman Mailer's death? Come on, Mr. Culture.

  3. Is it not recommended that in order to appreciate Jim Morrison’s verses one should be a little bit tipsy? Perhaps tipsy is the wrong word. How a bout "relaxed" and very giggly (in a very psychedelic way)? I believe Lester Bangs might have written about this at some point.

  5. When we were in Paris a few years ago, my brother, the military guy, had to see Napolean's tomb while I went to see Jim Morrison's grave. One of us was cultured, the other was goofy, you decide.
